Approximately 2,500 acres are farmed in-hand, the business having commenced in 1954.
Its main period of expansion was during the 1970’s and 1980’s when 3,000 areas was
farmed (arable and dairy) but a review took place in 2000 and the dairy unit (450
acres) was let.
The arable rotation comprises wheat, oil seed rape and potatoes. 150 acres is producing
energy crops (miscanthus) supplying Drax Power.
Co-operative Farming provide the management, and employ local contractors to carry
out the field work.
Wykeham Farms has entered into a Countryside Stewardship Scheme.
