Danby Lodge was originally the Dawnay family home, and later shooting lodge at Danby.
In 1976 the Lodge was transformed into The Moors Centre by the North York Moors
National Park. In 2008 extensive renovations were completed enhancing the visitor
experience.
Facilities include exhibitions, gallery, gifts, books and map shop, tea room, information
centre, lecture theatre, school studies centre and offices. There is a children's
play area and climbing wall inside the Centre and a play area outside. Seasonally
there are classes and workshops for children and adults alike.
The Yorkshire Tea room is also located at the moors centre and offers a fine range
of local and home-made foods. Car parking is available and there are many excellent
and varied walks onto the moors, Danby Castle or along the River Esk.
